Scarborough - Vikings
By Craig Bone
Top of the table clash at a very wet Beaver Park Beverley.
It was a real arm wrestle from the first to the last minute.
Both sides tackled very well, an unforced error lead to a penalty under the post converted 3-0 to Beverley. The first half never really opened out to any length of flowing rugby even though the Vikings tried to let the flying Anderson’s have some space out wide but sadly got scuppered by a last ditch tackle, unlike previous weeks where our discipline has been the key ingredient in winning our games, a few weather induced infringements gave Beverley a 12-0 lead at the break.
A much better team effort in the 2nd half, the Scarborough pack putting the team on the front foot, with Rowley and, back from the sevens circuit, Phil Stewart trying to unlock a pretty sturdy Beverley defence, until a few phases of play put captain Rossol under the post converted by Rowley – game on. Sadly the game died away from Scarborough just like the light to very hard fought game played with lots of pride. Final score 15-7 in favour of the home side.
The forwards lead by pack leader Will Leah, tried and tried to get consistent front foot ball, Tom Read was a constant threat making yards on every run, sometimes not pretty but a magnificent team effort.
Man of Match Tom Fish who was magnificent in the set piece again.
Starts again next week Malton away.
